From the Editor’s Desk

In my younger days I had the good luck as a runner to be inspired and coached by a lineage of talented lower mainland coaches.  It presented the opportunity to run for such great clubs such as the New Westminster Legion Harriers, Surrey Athletic Club, Simon Fraser University Clansmen, Vancouver Olympic Club, Lion’s Gate Road Runners and the Richmond Kajaks.

Besides the superior coaching, these clubs provided me with the opportunity to train with many of the dedicated and talented athletes of my day.  These were runners that made the teams to represent Canada on the track and in cross-country.  It allowed me to reach deeper levels of training in my own life, and for that I am thankful.

Regarding the world of Chinese martial arts, I discovered Tai Chi Chuan and found my friend and teacher Master Raymond YM Chung of the Vancouver Tai Chi Chuan Association.  After several years of study with Master Chung, he awarded me an Instructor’s Certificate.

As for being a writer,  Simon Fraser University,  the Creative Writing Program at the University of British Columbia, as well as the Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics at Naropa University in Colorado have played their part in my journey and development into an artist.
